Habits that Inspire
Jun 23, 2025
Most of us have come to realize that the quality of our lives is largely dependent upon our habits.
Our brains formulate habits to help us automatically accomplish routine tasks that would otherwise require consciously directly effort every time they were performed.
Through this learning we are able to reduce the amount of information our brains have to process.
Habits can be helpful or limit us. They can keep us stuck or they can facilitate the noblest of human accomplishments.
As you think about your habits are they assisting you to cultivate your deepest aspirations?
Does being your best self with high daily productivity in what is most meaningful to you seem to be automatic? If not, read on.
Self-Awareness
The workings of the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious characterize the structure and function of how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us, thus directly influencing the quality of our life.
When we understand how all three minds are inter-related and work together that we are empowered to make the necessary decisions to challenge old habits and create new ones.
All three minds function from the foundation of survival and evolve to thriving through the transformative energy expressed through our spiritual nature.
The Subconscious Habit Mind
Unlike the conscious mind, the subconscious mind could rightly be called the habit mind.
Our subconscious is like the auto-pilot feature of an airplane.
Once the subconscious has been programmed to follow a speciļ¬c route, it’s almost impossible to deviate from that route unless the directions programmed into it get changed. This is because it operates via stimulus-response that are expressed in habits.
Both our subconscious programs and the resulting habits are resistant to change.
Habits Can Change with Effort
Of course, we are grateful most of the time that once we hardwire the neurons of our brain and learn something through repetition and highly amplified emotional experiences, our behaviors don’t have to be relearned.
In fact, once the habit is established, we don’t even have to consciously think about the next time we tie our shoes, brush our teeth, drive to work, or know what 3X4 is.
We wouldn’t get much done if we didn’t have habits.
For these reasons, we operate based on our subconscious habits as much as ninety-five percent of the time.
It’s important to remember our subconscious mind is not governed by our value system. It will embrace bad habits and false ideas just as readily as it will accept good habits and good ideas.
In our next blog post we will discuss how to change habits that do not serve us well and replace them with habits that allow us to reach our fullest possibilities and happiness.
Points to Ponder
Our lives are governed by habits.
These stimulus-response subconscious programs are extremely helpful and necessary to learn and free up our ability to focus on what is most important.
However, habits can also be destructive and limiting.
So, What’s Next?
Strive to become more aware of what’s driving your narrative.
Make a deliberate effort over the next few days to watch how you automatically respond to certain events in your life.
Ask yourself if your habits are survival or thriving based.
